The Sperminator: Schwarzenegger admits infidelity...and fathering a child.

So we have yet another high-profile couple that has split amid a confession of infidelity. By now you've no doubt heard that Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger have separated...and that he admitted he fathered a child a decade ago (!!!) with a member of the household staff.
Wading into degrees of betrayal is like sloshing through mud...but surely keeping a woman in your home, and around your wife and your children when you've fathered her child ranks right up there with amongst the worst betrayal. Short of sleeping with your wife's mother/sister/brother/best friend, this one's truly sleazy. And I don't know how badly this woman needed the job...but...really??
I'm no longer even shocked at this stuff.
I remain, however, deeply saddened. Maria Shriver, for all her beauty and money and privilege, is a woman who loved her husband and her family. At the end of the day, it doesn't much matter what your last name is when you're heartbroken and humiliated by the person you trusted.
We all know that far too well...

  1. I've never been a fan of Maria Shriver or the Kennedy clan in general but my heart goes out to her.

This is so bad at so many levels.

  2. Trying to be unemotional!! But I find these stories bring a lot of the questions and crap back up to the surface.
    I just want to scream
WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THESE GUYS???!!!
You have beautiful supportive women who love you and help you achieve your dreams (sometimes at the expense of their own) but that's not good enough for you!!!

    GRRRRRR!!

  3. I'm very much able to transcend any personal feelings I might have for certain people when I find out they've been cheated on. Doesn't necessarily make me like then...but it certainly makes me feel empathy for them. I wouldn't wish betrayal on anyone.

  4. I got mad at my husband all over again when I heard this story. He thinks I'm insane and said "You're mad at me because of what Arnold did?" But, really, keeping a secret like that for over a decade -- what is WRONG with people? That is not acceptable. That is not living an authentic life. My heart breaks for Maria and her children. What a disappointment.

  5. I know, I know!!! He confessed when it was "convenient" for him... I can't imagine how Maria Shriver is dealing with this – not only, or even especially for her own sake, but for her children. How excruciating for them to see what deception their father is capable of. What will this do to their ability to trust?
    Just sad...
